These screw posts or attachments are surgically implanted through the gums and into the bone. Once implanted, the posts begin to integrate with your bone. This prevents bone loss and keeps your face supported and looking younger without the collapsed look that people often get with poorly fitting dentures.

Which dental implant option is right for you?
Implants are not a single treatment. What you need depends on how many teeth are missing and where they sit. Here is how the three routes differ.
One missing tooth
One implant, one crown, and nothing done to the teeth on either side. That last part is the difference worth knowing: a traditional bridge has to be anchored by reshaping the healthy teeth next to the gap, while an implant is self-supporting and leaves them alone.
Several missing teeth in a row
A run of missing teeth does not need an implant for every tooth. Two implants can anchor a bridge that spans the gap, so a span of three or four teeth can be restored on two posts. That means fewer surgical sites than replacing each tooth on its own.
A full upper or lower arch
If you already wear a denture or are close to needing one, implants can anchor it to your jaw instead of resting it on your gums. Depending on the type, the denture either clips on and off or is fixed in place and stays there.
